I've been thinking in making the "brazilian bomboms" with dark chocolate. I've made truffles before that were delicious, but despite of loving the taste of dark chocolate I've end up always staying with the conventional. Recently, I've been hearing much more about the benefits of dark chocolate to maintaining a good health. According with an article from HealthMd dark chocolate is rich in epicatechin, which is "a particularly active member of a group of compounds called plant flavoniods. Flavoniods keep cholesterol from gathering in blood vessels, reduce the risk of blood clots, and slow down the immune responses that lead to clogged arteries."

The University of California in San Francisco run a clinical study that showed "improvement in blood vessel function from consuming flavonoid-rich dark chocolate daily over an extended period of time."

Dark chocolate has more cocoa than regular chocolate and now companies have discovered how to process the chocolate without destroying the flavoniods. Still, while dark chocolate is beneficial to your health is rich in calories. So, you got to maintain a balanced diet and exercise to keep your heart healthy.

I was trilled to learn that a glass of red wine a day keeps the doctor away. Now chocolate! I think I have great chances to live a long healthy life this way. And for all the chocoholics out there...wait for some new dark chocolate brazilian bomboms coming to the market soon. Now, you have another good reason to enjoy them.

Brazilian Bomboms at the Hunter & Gatherer!

I've told you about all the great people I've met at the International
Festival, one of them is Joe, the chef for Hunter and Gatherer on South Main Street. He is a super cool guy, who luckily for me, loved the brazilian bomboms I've made. He got some for his mom's birthday (HAPPY BIRTHDAY) and told me to take some to HG. So, of course I did! HOORAY! I'm so excited about this. I hope everyone there loves it and asks for more, more, and more.
Joe is a well traveled person, a true appreciator of different culture's cuisine and he uses that to dish up some flavorful combinations at the HG. If you have not been there, you must definitely GO! I had some of Joe's oven baked brisket with spicy guava barbecue sauce. Oh, my...oh, my! It was fantastic! If you don't believe me "10 best" site says that "their eccentric eats easily rank among the tastiest bar food in town." If you need more reasons to pay HG a visit, they have great atmosphere, signature brews, live music, and now brazilian bomboms!
Thanks again Joe and Hunter and Gatherer for supporting and promoting world peace! haha...It all starts with kind words and little sweetness and you have it all!

I have to admit that I was a little weary about the International Festival. I think it was a mixture of anxiety and anticipation that made me consider not even showing up. But my friend Lea, who worked so hard with me to make the chocolate could not be let down, and I was glad I went through with it. That Saturday I woke up at 5:30 in the morning to finish the last details. Loaded the car up and drove to the Fairgrounds not knowing what to expect...That day I found great satisfaction in having people appreciate something that I worked so hard to offer them. The same feeling a mom feels when she prepares a new recipe for dinner and all her family really enjoys it. I have to say that have lived in different cities in the United States; cities that are considered more metropolitan and culturally diverse such as Los Angeles and Miami. I was pleasantly surprised of the reception I received from the people of Columbia. Most of the people were really friendly, and curious about Brazil and myself, and super supportive about my chocolates and desserts. I have to say that YOU made this festival well worth it for me. Thank you!
